James Brookbank is the Founder and Managing Director of The Telecoms Advocate Ltd, a specialist telecoms dispute resolution and advisory practice serving UK micro and small businesses.

His career spans more than two decades across business ownership, energy, telecommunications, and senior sales leadership. He has negotiated high-value commercial contracts, presented at board level, and worked directly with hundreds of SMEs across the UK. This background gave him an in-depth understanding of how telecom contracts are structured, priced, and enforced — and how easily smaller businesses can find themselves locked into arrangements that do not reflect what was promised at the point of sale.

After witnessing these practices first hand, James made the deliberate decision to retrain in law. He graduated in 2023 with an LLB (Hons) from Royal Holloway, University of London, equipping himself with the regulatory and legal framework required to challenge unfair contractual models effectively.

He founded The Telecoms Advocate in 2024. What began as a specialist advisory practice has since developed into a structured case preparation and dispute resolution firm with a growing case management team. Under his leadership, TTA prepares evidence-led complaints, negotiates with providers and finance companies, and works alongside regulated legal partners where matters fall within the FCA or court perimeter.

James continues to lead case strategy and governance, but TTA now operates as a collaborative team focused on disciplined preparation, regulatory precision, and commercially realistic outcomes. The firm has secured significant financial recoveries and liability reductions for clients and continues to expand its capacity in response to increasing demand.

His motivation remains consistent: to restore balance in a sector where smaller businesses often lack the leverage, expertise, or confidence to challenge complex contractual arrangements on equal footing.
